Getting ready for New Years
In my country (as well as in a few other latin american countries) we celebrate the new year with fire. No fireworks, but fire.
The costume which I believe is a variation in the theme from the party of “Fallas” in Valencia, Spain, implies the construction of a life size model of a paper doll we call “Año Viejo”, and its burning at of New years eve. The image to be build...
A day at the beach
Today my family and I went to the beach. The closest beach is about 50 miles away. Getting there took us 40 minutes more or less.
My dad has a minivan, with three rows of sits, driver, center and back passenger sits, and because he uses is it mainly for work, he took of the center row of sits, leaving just the sits in the far back and an empty space in the middle. Instead of putting the sits back,...
Hanging out with daddy
My father comes to this small pub every other Friday to meet his close group of friends, and last night he took me along. I have never hang out with my dad’s friends before, so I was feeling a little intimidated.
At the bar, I was surrounded my a little tipsy middle age straight men, all very loud and all drinking whisky, while old music (Saloon music as women call it) was blasting out of...
Christmas
I have not spent Christmas with my family in a very long time. I have forgotten many traditions. Like the kids on the street playing with fire crackers, or the insanity that goes on in shopping malls and commercial areas downtown, or the tradition of pigging out on Christmas night. And I was expected to pig out in three different locations.
Both of my grandmothers cooked, so I have to go visit...
From Miami to Lima!
The flight taking me from NYC to Miami was 2 hour delay. We finally took off at 5:00. Estimated time of arrival: 7:25 PM. The flight to Guayaquil was schedule to leave at 6:15.
I did not know what to expect once I made it to Miami. I tried to sleep on the plane but I was too stress to sleep. The plane I was traveling on was an old, so they still have just little TV screens every 20 rows or so. My...
From NYC to MIAMI
Once again. It seems that traveling in AA is a must avoid for anybody with my face and my name.
I left my place 4 hours before the departure time. This time they will not be excuses for not checking me in.
I have to take the A train to 125 and then the M60 Bus to LGA airport.
For some reason the bus was delayed, so I had to wait a long while. The temperature this morning was 28 degrees. It was...
More American Airlines Ranting
A few of my favorite experiences with American Airlines.
From Chicago to New York
Forever Late
Sleep over in Panama
American Hell Lines (Again, and again)
Due to the snow, a trip that usually takes me 45 minutes from NYC to Newark, took me about two hours. So I was 15 minutes late for my flight. I was hoping that AA was delayed as ALWAYS, but as strange as it may sound, the flight was on time. What it REALLY, really upset me was the way that agent woman (Mrs. Salinas), treated me. “IF you know that a snow storm is coming, you should have left...
I despise American Airlines.

Chinese Art
My brother had to write a paper about a visit to a museum. Yesterday my brother and I agreed to meet at the MET. I was there first and from the beginning it was a negative experience. First of all, the people working at the museum would not let me in unless I checked in my backpack. Of course they did not tell me if the coat check is free or not. I had only one dollar to my name at that point....
The Google Street View Car is coming!
Then the people in Sampsonia Way, in Pittsburgh PA learned that the Google Street View car was coming their way, they make sure that their small, one way alley was unforgettable.

The Fashion Institute of Technology. A college of fashion mayors. You would thinks that fashion shows are something regular. When I started at FIT, I was half thinking that I will be in fashion shows all the time. But that never happen.
Today I was modeling in a fahion show. But, I did it to repay a favor. A friend of mine, Carly, begged me to be her model. I owe her big time for he amazing help...
DDB
One of the requirements to graduate from Advertising design is to get an internship.
We get assigned a internship advisor who would send our resumes and portfolios to agencies. I teamed up with a friend (Chris) to be a copywriter/ art director team (Me Art Director!). Of all the agencies who received our portfolio, only one replied.
We were concerned. If that agencie did not like us, we were in...
Hell week
This past two weeks has been hell week for me.
Very little sleep, and every awaken moment either at school (Saturday and Sundays included) finishing projects and I am STILL NOT DONE!.
Starting last Tuesday ,I pulled an all-nigher doing some web programing project, here in school (The labs are open 24 hours the last 2 weeks of the semester), I tried to get a nap in the theatre office (there is a...
The Dungeon
At FIT, there are 2 main computer labs: The library and C-basement. The library is a great place to hang out with friends while doing homework, but it can get distracting. The C-basement is different; I call it “The Dungeon”. Is it in the basement of the biggest building on campus. There is NO cell phone reception, the place is acoustically sealed so if you talk a little to loud, the whole room...
City folks just don't get it!
Excerpt from Farmersonly.com, a dating site for, you got it, farmers only.
“I’m Jerry Miller, founder of FarmersOnly.com. There are basically two groups in America. Group one: their lives revolve around four dollar cups of coffee, taxi cabs, blue suits, high heels, conference rooms and getting ahead at all costs in the corporate world. If you fall into this group you’re probably...
