The Company - Week 2
My trial at the Company ended last Friday, and this Monday I will have a meeting with the owners about what would be fair to pay me.
So far, they seem trilled with all my work. I have connected them with packaging designers, product photographer and I have bring new ideas on how to improve advertising and marketing for the company. I think I have leverage to request a better pay. I know I may not be able to get what I wish ($30 - $50 and hour), but I am willing to settle for $22 - $25 for starters. I can go back to catering ($19 hour) and it would be better than what I am getting now ($16).
But, I am conflicted about turning down this job. I want to go work for another company more specialized in what I want to be doing (Theatre advertising), but I have not hear from them, and I doubt I would.
My friend/ boss at the Company told me that they want to evolve me from an in house designer to a full fledge design department (I would be the chief of that party), so I may have to bite a bad pay for now in hope to advance my career in the future. But, the past is dust and the future wind, we don’t know if this will happen soon or at all. It is a gamble.
