Every year, msotly because of my tight New York living, I made a christmas tree that saves me space, usually on a wall.

THis year I had the idea of making one of gift cards. So, I started collecting them. 

In some stores, they have them sprinkled around, so is as easy as just taking them. One of each kind they have in display.  

Some stores have them behind the counter, so just have to ask for them, that is when the problems start.

Usually, the clerk behind the counters gets really confused. 

-“I dont know if I can just give the empty” - Then they call the manager. 

Some managers (Staples) are nice about it 

-“Just take them, if somebody try to use them, they are empty so it should be a problem”

Other managers (Michael’s Art Store) start screaming!

-“No! No! That is impossible! Those cards are Michael’s Property!”  - Even after I offer to pay for them, the screaming continue, as if I was going to steal them.

-“Ok, what if I put money on them? then you will stop screaming at me?” - all the sudden this manager idiots world seem again in order…. 
-“Of course, you can even use them later on” - What a bitch.
-“Ok then I wan to put 1 cent on each” - That short circuit the wiring of  her little mind again
-“No! You cannot do that! That is too little!”-  
-“Ma’am, you are not helping me. What is the minimun amount I can put on these cards?”
-“You need to put five dollars!”

I called the store later and told the manager what happend and ask again what was the minimun amount I can place in a card. The manager was very pleasant and apologized about the clerk behavior and offer me the gift cards for $1 each.

I wonder how much does this cards cost to the companies how offer them. I am sure is just cents….
