Commute from Hell
Here how my hellish daily commute goes…
• 6:20 am - Alarm sounds .. snooze
• 6:29 am - Alarm sounds again .. I get up.
• 6:45 am - I leave the apartment.
• 7:00 am - Catch the A train downtown (from 181st St to 34th St)
• 7:20 am - Arrive to Penn Station and grab some breakfast (if i can afford it)
• 7:31 am - Got in the LIRR towards Babylon.
• 8:10 am - Arrive to Rockville Centre Station (somewhere in Long Island)
• 8:15 am - Got in the N15 Bus
• 8:30 am - Arrive to work. I am already 30 minutes late.
Total commute time. One hour and 45 minutes.
Total number of transfers: 2 transfers. From a MTA Subway (line A) to a LIRR Train (local to Babylon) to a MTA Bus (towards Long Beach)
Total cost: $13 each way.
Total monthly cost: $520
To this expensive and long commute, I can add how fragile it is. If the MTA (bus or Subway) is delayed (An often occurrence) I miss the LIRR train, and because Rockville Centre Station is a local, none important station, the LIRR trains are schedule every hour. One minute I am late to the station (either direction) and I stock for one hour, with no much to do, or no way to get back to the city.
